KING AND QUEEN OF THE MOUNTAIN TOURNAMENT

The King and Queen Tournament was held in chilling temperatures on February 17th, 2025 at Wurn Park. Good play from all participants in this unique format where one player takes all in each age division. Congratulations to the winners and a big thank you to all players and parents!

Crowned WINNERS of the King & Queen Tournament

Tournament Format

The KING & QUEEN of the Mountain Tournament follows a Dutch small-sided competition.  From Holland's Ajax Football Club, this is a unique small-sided (4v4 or 5v5)  competition considered the best way to determine the "most impactful player" over the course of the tournament. Teams are mixed up randomly each game, so that players are playing with and against different players each seven-minute game. After each game, scores are recorded, and new teams are formed. Each player earns one point for every goal his/her team scored, plus 10 points for a win and 5 points for a tie (e.g., for a 5-3 game, all players on the winning side get 15 points (10 for the win plus five for five goals scored), and all players on the losing side get 3 points for their goals scored only). Over the course of the 90-minute tournament, players can expect to play eight to ten small-sided games. After all games are completed, a single King/Queen of the Mountain will be recognized as the player who earned the most total points for all games played.

1 Winner will be awarded in each age division for Kings and Queens!
